Intro
College of Business Education and edTech research group at the School of Computing, University of Eastern Finland (UEF) jointly organise a workshop titled: Empowering Street Vendors through Mobile Technology.
Street vending is a common type of informal business activity in Tanzania, as well as in other developing countries. Often street vendors' business strategies are simple, and street vendors lack knowledge and education to improve their business skills. The street vendors do not have time or possibility to attend training, and their modest education level prohibits them to study formal education. The aim of the workshop is to think and brainstorm what kind of mobile solutions could be created to support street vendors and other micro-enterpreneurs regarding the challenges they meet in their everyday business activities.
The workshop will have two parts. First, Mr. Nasibu Mramba, Assistant Lecturer at CBE and doctoral student at the edTech research group, gives an introductory lecture related to the topic of Street Vending Business School at Tanzania. Second, a brainstorming meeting is held after the lecture, where the workshop participants together with Mr. Mramba will about possible mobile-based solutions that could be useful for street vendors.
