I hold a research manager position at the School of Computing, UEF, and I'm a senior member of the edTech research group. I received my MSc (Computer Science) from University of Joensuu in 2000 and PhD (Computer Science) from University of Joensuu in 2005. Also, I have a docent title from University of Eastern Finland in the field of Technologies for Development and Education. I have almost 20 years of experience in working at University of Joensuu/UEF, and currently my main work is related to the IMPDET-LE online doctoral studies (http://www.impdet.org).
I have published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, conferences, workshops and chapters of books. My main academic interests are related to educational technology, online and blended learning, as well as computing education. I have served on committees for various conferences and special issues of journals, and acted as a reviewer in several scientific journals and conferences. I have been member of the organising team for the annual Koli Calling (http://www.kolicalling.fi) international conference since 2001.
