Summary
Bioenergy sources in China generally are from three aspects, agricultural sources, forestry sources and others. This lecture is to review bioenergy development in recent years, and detailed information is explained by using rural terms in Shaanxi province. Following aspects are to introduce: 1) Biomass resources, direct and indirect uses; 2) Prevalent bioenergy technologies; 3) National bioenergy projects and small projects at households level; 4) Bioenergy potential; 5) Bioenergy development dilemma.

Summary
Establishing biomass plantation for energy use may provide many opportunities to ecosystem services. Willow plantation as one alternative of fast-growing plantation for energy use has been established in Sweden since last decades. Understanding how energy crop plantation works as well as the concept of “win-win” from different stakeholders will help achieve the goals in ecosystem services. In this topic, we will discuss: 1) basic information of biomass plantation system; 2) how to establish fast-growing plantation by using willow plantation as the example; 3) the advantages of using fast-growing plantation and the disadvantages of using fast-growing plantation.
